Once you have your measurements and know which screen you want for each location you will place the order by calling 972-438-8724. You will be responsible for measuring for your security screens. TSS will help advise you on how to measure and which screen should be used in each location. We are working on written instruction for installing the screens.
No, our security screens are not connected to the alarm. Our screens are designed as ACTIVE protection, prevention intruders from getting past your windows and doors. An alarm system only tells you when someone has already broken into your home. Screens that are connected to your alarm are designed to set off your alarm if the screen is cut or removed. The TAPCO screens are attached to the structure and the stainless steel screen material cannot be cut without specialized tools.
On windows needed for egress during the case of a fire, we use operating screens. For any window that opens, that is large enough for egress (escape), we will use a screen that can be opened from the inside using the EZ-Open\SPR-200 latch.
TSS will use SPR locks on windows that open or Bit-Locks on picture windows. Both locking mechanisms allow the screens to be opened for glass cleaning.
EZ-Open\SPR-200 locks are ADA (American Disability Act) approved locks used on screens that open from the inside. To unlock the screen you would push or lift-up on the handle that only requires 5 pounds of force which releases a rod at the top and bottom of the screen. This is otherwise known as a single-point release lock.
Frame color options are Almond, Anodized, Charcoal Grey, Bronze, Black, Mill, and White. Custom colors are available.
Most people choose the .035″ SST screen mesh in the black finish.
All screen frames and screen mesh are powder coated.
Tapco has devised what is called ‘screw covers’. These are aluminum strips that are inserted into special channels on the screen that actually cover the screws. The screw covers are installed in such a way that they are nearly impossible to remove.
Yes, we have security screen doors for single doors, French/Twin doors, and patio sliding doors.
Yes, standard and custom lite patterns are available.
Single doors can be made 48″ wide by 108-1/2″ tall.
The 450 series door has key deadbolts at the top, middle, and the bottom of the door. The deadbolts can be engaged from the inside by using the thumb latch on the inside. Additionally, the security screen door opens to the outside. In residential homes the exterior doors open to the inside of the house, which makes them vulnerable to being kicked-in.
The 100 series would be perfect. These screens utilize .028″ diameter SST wire mesh whereas the heavy-duty 300 series screen uses the .035″ diameter wire. We use the 100 series for houses on golf courses when people have problems with golf balls breaking the glass. The 100 series works great for screened-in patios because you will never have to worry about the screens rusting or getting cut which are much more durable than the standard screen material used.
Yes, the. 035″ SST wire blocks up to 66% of heat transfer and 68% of ultraviolet rays. The 100 screens offer less protection because the wire is .028″ diameter SST, which is a smaller diameter than the .035″ wire.
