Most home and business owners think they are protected with a REACTIVE alarm system, meaning that if your alarm is even being monitored, it will only notify you and/or the police after someone has broken into your home or business. The primary function of TAPCO Security Screens is to stop intruders, prevent glass breakage (from flying debris and/or vandalism), and allow for egress during a fire while making your home and/or business more energy efficient. All of this can be accomplished without detracting from the appearance of your home and/or business.

The Anatomy of a Tapco screen: the more you know about security screens, the more you will understand why you need them.

Impact resistance is how Tapco Security Screen prevents flying debris or someone from trying to break in.  Since the screen mesh is made out of stainless steel (SST), it cannot be cut or damaged with standard equipment or devices.

There two main levels of impact resistance depending on the screens series. The 300 series window and 450 series door offer the highest impact resistance since they are made with .035" SST wire mesh (12 wires verticle and 12 wires horizontal every square inch) and T-6063 heavy-duty gauge aluminum frame.

The 100 series window screens offer less impact resistance than the 300 series window screens, because the aluminum frame is lighter.

The 300 window security screens and 450 door security screens use the .035" SST screen mesh offering the highest level of energy savings in the Tapco line of security screen mesh.  The .035" SST wire blocks up to 66% of heat transfer and 68% of the suns damaging UV-rays which is comparable to many solar screens on the market.  The .028" SST wire has not been tested for heat transference or UV blockage capability.

Unlike burglar bars, the Tapco Window Security Screes have a special latch mechanism. During a fire, you would simply open your windows and flip EZ-Open/SPR-200 (SPR=Single Point Release) latch which is spring-loaded and ADA approved. Trend Security Screens will measure all of your windows, doors, and patio room openings to ensure your security screens will fit each opening precisely. We take the measurements to create computer-aided drawings of your security screens using the latest version of AutoCAD and send everything to Tapco for fabrication.

Visually, the Tapco screens offer the same visibility as solar screens. When it is daylight outside you can see out of the security screens with minimal obstruction. Burglar bars are similar to security screens because they both will protect you from intruders, but that is where the similarity stops.
1. Burglar bars do not stop your glass from breakage from flying debris
2. Burglar bars will not keep insects out
3. Burglar bars will detract from your home and/or your business’ appearance
4. Tapco Security Screens can be opened for an emergency exit, unlike many burglar bars.

The screen mesh on security screens is just as effective at keeping insects out compared to standard window screens, however, the security screen will not tear like a standard screen can since the mesh on the security screens is made out of stainless steel. Additionally, security screens will not fade like standard screens do because they are powder coated.

Tapco screens look similar to solar screens. Nobody would know that they are security screens unless they touch them.  With the various colors, you can match your existing window frame color or change the look of your home by using a different color.
